Debate Mate team wins big in Urban Debate League round 1

I am delighted to share some great news from Debate Mate.

As the Urban Debate League competition kicked off this week, 12 of our Debate Mate attendees proudly represented our school in the first round, debating against teams from other local schools.

I am pleased to share that the students delivered an outstanding performance, and won all four of their debates (4/4 rounds). This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to their hard work, preparation, and teamwork.

The students impressed judges with their clear thinking, confident speaking, and respectful engagement with opposing views. Each student received individual feedback from the judges to benefit from and support them in the upcoming competitions.

I am very proud of each student involved in Debate Mate and their commitment to the club. The next round of competition will take place in March, and we’re excited to see our debaters continue to grow and shine.

A gentle reminder that students who would like to join Debate Mate can attend either the Tuesday or Wednesday session 3.15-4.15pm. Please encourage your child to visit the library for more information.
