Y9 – Synoptic Assessments

Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 November

Please find attached the timetable for the Y9 non-core subject assessments that will be taking place on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 November

Students will be sitting assessments in formal conditions in History, Geography, RE, Languages and Latin.

We will be assessing students on the knowledge and skills they have been taught across the duration of Key Stage 3. We will be using the information from these assessments to determine readiness for Key Stage 4.  The information will better support the options process for students moving forward.

Students will be prepared for these assessments in class and have revision checklists to support them. They will complete revision in classes in the lead up and this work will already have started.

Y9 have previously had an assembly to understand why we choose to have them assessments in formal conditions so early. Our discussion points are below:

  • Prepare you for Key Stage 4
  • Alleviate nerves associated with examinations
  • Get used to working in timed conditions
  • Understand how to use access arrangements effectively
  • Begin to think about your study habits
  • Practice/practice/practice

If your child has access arrangements for assessments/exams, you will have been informed of this and they will be applied during these exams.

Students have been given a copy of the timetable to bring home today

If you have any questions, please do contact me or Will Allen, Year Team Leader.
