Bookbuzz at our school
I am delighted to share that our Y7 and Y8 students have taken part in Bookbuzz 2025, a brilliant reading programme from BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity. Bookbuzz is designed to help children discover the joy of reading and to build positive reading habits.
Student selected their book from this year’s incredible Bookbuzz list and have begun receiving their chosen book during library lessons. All books will have been distributed by next week and is for students to keep.
BookTrust’s research shows that reading regularly boosts wellbeing, inspires creativity, sparks imagination and encourages great conversations at home.
Here are some simple ways you can support your child’s reading journey:
1. Chat about their book
Talking about books helps build confidence and deepens enjoyment. You might simply ask:
- Why did you choose this book?
- Who is your favourite character so far?
- What do you like most about the story?
2. Keep the momentum going
If your child has already finished their Bookbuzz title, you can browse further recommendations using BookTrust’s Bookfinder at booktrust.org.uk/bookfinder, or visit your local library or bookshop together to discover new favourites. In school, students can visit the library as usual.
3. Discover more
For more ideas, reading tips and book suggestions, visit booktrust.org.uk where you can also sign up for their family newsletters for regular inspiration.
I hope your child enjoys their new book and I look forward to seeing their enthusiasm for reading continue to grow.
