New Parent Governor
Congratulations to Natalie Easington on her appointment to the Governing Board. See a preview of her personal statement below.Personal Statement
I would like to forward my application for the role of Parent Governor. I am a Camden resident and a parent of a young person with Autism who attends Acland Burghley. I have worked in education for many years in Administration, Operations, and Human Resources. I have good working knowledge of the role of schools in mainstream education and pupil referral units that support our child's educational development at different stages in their lives. Also working knowledge of the joint services that support our children and families when they are in need, also the role that schools can play in this support mechanism.
I have an interest in being part of this school's network and being part of a team that oversees and ensures that the school's resources are used in the best way and that all pupils have access to education and staff have access to fair process. That all parents are supported through all areas of their child’s educational journey, and that professionals that support the school are utilised effectively. Also, all staff are treated fairly and the school business and development is monitored effectively to ensure that it meets its objectives as seen by government bodies such as Ofsted and also by the school governing body. This includes that the school is operationally focused and that all who visit, work or support and attend the school have the best experience but are able to air their views if this is not the case.

Your priorities: As a governor, what are the key ways you hope to contribute to improving Acland Burghley School? |
SEN parent support for 6th form as I think it needs to be more that what it is, as a parent of a student in 6th form I feel that the support isnt fully available. They have a parent network for years 7 to 11, that does not really include the needs of year 12 – 13. I would like to help develop this. Better communication with Tutors and parents. There needs to be a better way for parents to communicate with tutors if need be – it may just be 6th form based. Recruitment – ensuring that as a school governor I can help support this process to ensure the best candidate placement. Support for parents in 6th form new intake – so that there is a better understanding on process and expectations of students/parents while attending. Being part of the school and being involved in supporting whole school development and improvement for all staff, students and parents. |
