GCSE Success 2026
Acland Burghley School achieved its best ever GCSE results since the reforms in 2017.
76% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English and Maths and they achieved an average attainment score of 54.4. Exceptional grades were seen across a breadth of subjects and the Science, English and Spanish scores in particular, all had an outstanding year. The maths department built on last year’s success with 45% of students achieving a grade 7 or above in the subject.
This group of students arrived at the school in 2021, having had their last 2 years of primary school interrupted by Covid. So for them to achieve this set of results is nothing short of extraordinary and all the students and staff involved should be incredibly proud.
This positivity was felt across the school site today as numerous students opened their envelopes to see they'd achieved the grades required for their chosen Y12 pathway. It was a mixture of relief and elation after a long year of hard work and a nervous summer anticipating their results. The photos below managed to capture these moments.
We’d like to acknowledge the students below who achieved exceptionally high grades across the board:

These are Acland Burghley’s best GCSE results since curriculum reform in 2017, by a significant margin. The students have done well at every level across a broad curriculum. The school is highly successful in our academic and creative curriculum. We’re incredibly proud of these young people.
