Acland Burghley

Acland Burghley

I am very pleased to invite you to the LaSWAP Taster Day to be held at La Sainte Union on Monday 4 July 2016.  This is an extremely important day which will provide you with many opportunities to discuss and experience our wide range of courses offered. The day will run from 8.30am to 2pm and you are required to attend for the whole day. The outline for the day below. Please note that you will begin the day at Acland Burghley School.

In each Taster Session, you will be given a Summer Assignment to complete which you must submit in the first lesson of that course in September. This assignment provides a baseline from which you will progress and it will be marked by teachers. It is vital that you complete it as it forms part of your Induction Programme. The Summer Assignments will also be available from the LaSWAP website after 4th July.

By the end of Taster Day, we hope you will have a clearer understanding of the expectations your subject teachers will have of you when you join us for Induction in September, 2016.  A final one-to-one meeting will be arranged on GCSE results day (Thursday 25th August) to finalise your enrolment. There will not be appointment times for enrolment but as soon as you have received your GCSE results you will meet with a senior member of staff to complete the enrolment procedures. This will take place in the ABS Sixth Form Study Area.

I am really looking forward to seeing you on Monday 4 July at La Sainte Union School. If you are unable to attend, please return the slip before Friday 1 July to ensure your application goes forward. If you have any questions, please email Ms Cooney, Sixth Form Administrator, at .

Yours faithfully

Aaron Shufflebotham
Director of Learning KS5
