Enrichment Day

Enrichment Day

On Monday 29 January 2018, students took part in their second PSHCEE (Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship and Economic Education) Enrichment Day of the school year. The day was a big success and was enjoyed by students and staff!

During the day students were lucky enough to take part in a range of thought-provoking workshops delivered by external speakers, which helped meet students’ social, moral, spiritual and cultural needs.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was a hands-on workshop delivered by the Royal Navy. During this session, Y7 students took part in a number of interactive challenges. The students really enjoyed the chance to develop their team work skills and to learn about life in the Navy!

Other interesting sessions included workshops run by Growing Against Violence (GAV) educating students in Y7, 9 and 11 about the dangers of being part of a gang, a session run by Stand Up! Education Against Discrimination on tackling discrimination and violence, a workshop for Y10 run by Straight Talking about teenage pregnancy, and an assembly for Y9 run by the Teenage Cancer Trust.  Y10 Triple Science students also had a great time making their own prosthetic fingers and looking at X-Rays in a workshop about careers in science run by St George’s Experiments Roadshows.

We are so grateful to all of these organisations for running such valuable sessions for our young people and very much hope that they will come back again in future. Staff and students are now looking forward to the next Enrichment Day, which will take place on Friday 9 March.
