Announcement of Leadership Team for Acland Burghley School for September 2015

Governors have been working with Headteacher Designate Nicholas John to consider the best model of school leadership to take the school forward from September 2015. As a result of this review, Governors are delighted to confirm the newly organised team.

Headteacher: Nicholas John starts as Headteacher in September 2015.

Associate Headteacher: Paul Newbury has been appointed as the new Associate Headteacher. He joins from St Paul's Way Trust School in Tower Hamlets, where he has spent three years as Director of Learning for the VI Form. Under his leadership, the VI Form was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in March 2013. He was previously Director of Music at Camden School for Girls.

Strategy and Business Manager: Kat Miller has been Strategy and Business Manager at Acland Burghley since August 2013. She joined the school from running her own business providing project management and training to public and third sector organisations. Prior to that, she spent eight years working at Essex County Council in a range of roles including Head of Chief Executive's Office.

Director of Learning for Inclusion and Additional Educational Needs: Martha Collins joined Acland Burghley in September 2014. She was previously Assistant Headteacher in charge of the Quality of Teaching at Fortismere School in Haringey. She will take up the new role of Director of Learning for Inclusion and Additional Educational Needs.

Director of Learning for Key Stage 3: Flora Wilson joined the school in September 2011 and now moves to the new post of Director of Learning for Key Stage 3. She brings a wealth of experience as a former Head of History at Fortismere School.

Director of Learning for Key Stage 4: Steve Shaw takes up the new post of Director of Learning for Key Stage 4. A longstanding member of staff at the school, Steve has been Head of Faculty for Communication and Social Sciences.

Director of Learning for Key Stage 5: In addition, Aaron Shufflebotham joins the school from Vyners School in Hillingdon, where he is currently Head of Year 12 and a teacher of Chemistry and Biology. He will lead on Key Stage 5.

Commenting on the new structure, Nicholas John said:

"The new team is set up to focus on the achievement of every student. The new Directors of Learning will have direct responsibility for the academic performance and personal development of every child in their Key Stage, and will manage a team of Heads of Year, Tutors and Faculty representatives.

“The Headteacher and the new Associate Headteacher will work in close collaboration with each Director of Learning.

“The new team will be working closely with current Executive Headteacher, Sue Higgins, and her Associate Headteacher, Anna Peduzzi, over the summer to ensure that the improvements which the school has seen this year are continued during and after this transitional period. We are all looking forward to working closely with Sue from September as she continues to be involved with developments at the school."
